I am new to off-campus housing. Can you tell me a little about it?

The full college experience is available just steps away from Johns Hopkins University and a short drive to Loyola University when living at The Social North Charles. The Social North Charles is undergoing a multimillion dollar renovation, but we are still committed to offering the most value for our students by meeting various housing needs with flexible leasing options and a wide array of amenities. All apartment homes are available to lease privately, or you can utilize our free roommate matching services and lease for less. Our planned renovations will include updates to our most popular community areas including our movie theatre, lounge area, 24-hour fitness center, bike storage and repair room, study lounges, rooftop pool & terrace and more!

How far is the property from campus?

The Social North Charles is steps from Johns Hopkins University. We are also a short drive to Loyola University and Notre Dame of Maryland University.

Do you have to be a student?

No! In fact, with its convenient location to downtown, I295, I395, and I83 The Social North Charles is the ideal location for anyone!

Do you have a bus stop and how often does it run?

The Social North Charles is just a few steps from Johns Hopkins University. There is a Blue Jay shuttle at the entrance to our community. We are also within close proximity to a Maryland Transit Authority (MTA) bus stop with access to multiple bus routes which makes it very easy for you to go home to see your family/friends or explore Baltimore! The MTA also provides convenient transportation services to our residents who attend Loyola University and Notre Dame of Maryland University.

I do not have any roommates in mind. Do you offer roommate matching?

Absolutely! Every student is unique, so during the leasing process we utilize our state-of-the-art roommate matching software that knows just the right questions to ensure the best matches possible.

What is included in the rent?

All utilities are paid by our Residents. The water, sewage, gas, and trash services are maintained by our community and are billed back to each residents account. Residents are responsible for setting up accounts for electricity, cable, and internet. A variety of on-site parking options are available for an additional monthly cost.

Do you offer furniture?

Yes, fully furnished apartment homes are available for an additional monthly cost! Furnished units include a full-sized bed, dresser, and desk with chair. Each furnished living room includes a couch, chair, dining room table with chairs, entertainment stand, and coffee table.

Do you allow pets?

Yes, pets are permitted at our community! All pets must be registered prior to entering the community. There is a one-time Pet Fee of $200 and $35 per cat and $50 per dog in Pet Rent due for each animal at the community. There is a 2-pet maximum per apartment at our community.

Is short term housing available?

At The Social North Charles, we offer housing for a minimum of 11.5 months in a variety of floor plans. However, a limited number of short term rentals will be approved per semester. Please contact our office to inquire about the availability for these lease options.

What safety measurements are in place?

We want to do everything we can to ensure that you have a safe living environment. The Social North Charles does have an on-site security team that provides services for our residents 24/7. Additionally, our community is a controlled access facility. All residents are given a FOB for use to enter the building. Guests must be accompanied by a resident or check in with our security team upon entry. We encourage all our residents to report any suspicious activity to them and as always dial 911 for emergencies.

How do I pay the rent and when is it due?

Rent is due on the 1st day of each month. We have an easy online payment system that allows you to pay any time of the day. You never have to worry about late fees if you opt into our automatic withdrawal option. You are also more than welcome to pay by check or money order in the office during regular business hours.

Can I pay up front?

Yes! You may also pay by installment plan. Please know that does not include any utility payments.

Do you provide on-site maintenance? How do we report any maintenance related issues?

Yes, we do have on-site maintenance. Our online Resident Portal makes it easy to submit work requests online directly to our office staff. Our maintenance staff is great at quickly responding to our residents’ needs! You will know when your work is completed via email by receiving a satisfaction survey. We love to hear the opinions of our residents so that we can continually improve our services.

Great! We look forward to having you! We ask that the resident fills out an online application. It only takes 15-20 minutes! If you are signing with a guarantor, they may also complete their portion of the application at the same time. It’s that easy!
